Manager, Safety (Finance)

Job Summary:

As the Manager, Safety, you will play a key leadership role in promoting a culture of safety excellence across your assigned client portfolio. Based at one of our lodges in Fort McMurray, AB, you'll work closely with operations teams to embed safety into daily practices, reduce incident frequency and costs, and ensure a safe, productive work environment. This role is instrumental in developing and implementing health and safety programs, policies, and procedures that align with Civeo's commitment to operational efficiency and compliance with OH&S legislation.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Culture

  • Champion a strong safety culture by modeling positive behaviors and fostering a mindset of continuous improvement and teamwork.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to embed safety into all initiatives and align with strategic business goals.
  • Lead and mentor a team of safety professionals, supporting their development and ensuring alignment with corporate safety standards.

Program Development
  • Design and enhance safety programs using data-driven insights to identify trends and prioritize risk areas.
  • Continuously improve safety policies and procedures to meet OH&S legislation and industry standards.
  • Manage safety budgets and support corporate safety planning alongside senior leadership.

Safety Best Practices & Compliance
  • Oversee site-specific safety practices and ensure compliance with regulations and client standards.
  • Lead incident investigations, safety audits, and corrective action planning.
  • Monitor and report on safety metrics, trends, and performance to drive accountability and improvement.
  • Ensure timely regulatory reporting and integrate safety requirements into contracts and operational processes.

Qualifications
  • Education & Certification: Diploma in a related technical field (e.g., Construction Engineering Technology, Business, or HR) required; a degree in HSE Management is an asset. Must hold a professional safety designation such as CRSP, NCSO, or CSO.
  • Experience: 10+ years of progressive HSE experience with proven leadership in developing and implementing safety systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficient in MS Office, with excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Other Requirements: Valid driver's license with a clean 5-year abstract. Must be flexible, adaptable, and able to work rotational shifts in remote camp settings.
