The Mental Health Group Facilitator will be responsible for co-facilitating a Hoarding Support Group using the Buried in Treasures (BIT) service model (Tolin, Frost, and Stekette, 2007). This role involves planning, coordinating, and delivering structured in-person group sessions that support individuals experiencing hoarding behaviors. The facilitator will create a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment where participants can explore their experiences, build insight, and develop practical strategies for change. This includes co-leading in-person weekly sessions, fostering peer support, encouraging skill-building and self-reflection, and supporting participants' progress throughout the group sessions. The Mental Health Group Facilitator will also be expected to conduct pre- and post-group assessments, maintain group documentation, and liaise with the program supervisor to ensure clinical oversight and quality service delivery.


 

We are seeking:

Mental Health Group Facilitator

Temporary Part-Time (4 hours per week)

Key Areas of Accountability:

  • Lead and co-facilitate a structure hoarding support group
  • Assess participant progress through ongoing observation, check-ins, and use of assessment tools or reflective exercises.
  • Communicate with program supervisor and Manager regarding participant needs, group progress, and any emerging challenges.
  • Participate in program evaluation, including providing feedback, completing outcome measures, and contributing to post-group reviews.
  • Provide person-centered Support Counselling
  • Conduct brief check-in with participants to assess the emotional well-being with their weekly coaching sessions
  • Address crisis situations or emerging mental health concerns, and provide appropriate community referrals when necessary

Am I qualified?

  • MSW or BSW degree, Counselling
  • Registered with the Ontario College of Social Worker and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW)
  • 2 to 3 years of experience as a group facilitator
  • Excellent understanding of group dynamics and therapeutic process
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive issues with confidentiality and professionalism
  • Experience with diverse populations and age groups
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques
  • Experience with facilitating support groups
