Director of Engineering (Security)
This is a Hybrid role in Vancouver, BC Canada.
Position Summary
Thales is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead product development for our Sonar and DAM product lines (collectively DSF). The team is responsible for a global-scale, mission-critical, customer-facing solution that powers Thales DSF products and services and consists of over 100 engineers primarily located in Vancouver, Canada and Tel Aviv, Israel.
The Director is responsible for the delivery, quality, escalations, budget, hiring, and operations of the two DSF product lines. This position requires a leader who can operate within a matrixed engineering model, collaborating with peers responsible for centralized quality, UI and other functions. The Director will be instrumental in facilitating the modernization of DSF applications from monolithic architecture to scalable microservices based architecture. Subsequent to modernization, the Director will facilitate re-organization of existing resources into a matrixed organization. The Director should expect changes in direct line and dotted line reporting as a result.
The position will oversee an onsite resource that will have basic responsibilities for office management.
The Director will serve as a key member of the Data Security engineering management team and collaborate with other engineering leaders on strategic issues and initiatives.

Key Areas of Responsibility
Delivery
• Work closely with Product Management, Customer Success, and Support organizations to deliver high-quality products and support customer escalations and deployments.
• Oversee the delivery of the Data Security Fabric (DSF) and all its components, ensuring timely and high-quality execution.
• Implement established processes to ensure high technical and quality standards from the ground up.
• Manage escalations related to DSF engineering, providing effective resolutions.
Management
• Develop and maintain the budget for DSF engineering operations, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
• Lead efforts to build a strong and capable engineering team.
• Provide an innovative and challenging work environment for product development teams in Vancouver and Tel Aviv.
Collaboration
• Operate within a matrixed engineering model, working closely with peers responsible for centralized quality and UI organizations.
• Facilitate the adjustment of resources to meet strategic changes as solutions evolve and modernize.
• Work with engineering peers to ensure alignment and integration of DSF with other product lines and initiatives.
• Foster collaboration with the broader engineering community and Data Security organization to ensure consistency in design, quality, and user experience for customers.
Basic Qualifications
• 10+ years of experience in software development
• 6+ years of experience leading large engineering teams
• Experience managing organizations of 30+ across geographies
• Passionate about understanding, learning, and evaluating new technologies
• Excellent leadership, collaborative management practices, communication and interpersonal skills; strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Demonstrated success with meeting the needs of a wide range of employees while driving team performance, monitoring results and appropriately allocating resources.
• Strong leadership skills, leading by example, driving employee commitment through actions, and empowering employees to reach their full potential
• Preference to have B.Sc or M.Sc in Computer Science or equivalent

The anticipated TTC range for this position is $159,885.24 - 276,255.63 CAD Annual. The salary offered will be determined based on the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, other qualifications, and location.
