Project Engineer (Engineering)



Summary

We are seeking a motivated and results-oriented Project Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role will lead and coordinate a range of technical development projects, with a key responsibility for managing externally supported initiatives and ensuring successful project execution and reporting. The ideal candidate will bring both technical expertise in battery development and strong project management skills.

Job Duties

  • Plan, execute, and manage battery development projects to meet technical, schedule, and budget targets.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders on funded project activities, ensuring clear communication, timely reporting, and alignment with project objectives.
  • Coordinate internal cross-functional teams including R&D, engineering, operations, and quality to drive project success.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, technical reports, progress updates, and milestone tracking.
  • Support preparation of project proposals and funding applications for new external initiatives.
  • Work closely with technical teams to transition research and prototype concepts into scalable solutions.
  • Proactively identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate project meetings, design reviews, and stakeholder updates.
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards, safety protocols, and all project-related requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field); advanced degree is a plus.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in project engineering or technical project management, ideally in battery development, energy storage, or advanced manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated experience managing externally supported or partnership-driven technical projects.
  • Strong technical understanding of lithium-ion battery systems and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced development environment.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g. MS Project, Smartsheet) and reporting systems.
  • PMP certification is an asset.

Requirements

·       Four year bachelor's degree, minimum

·       Work-related skill, knowledge and experience, for a minimum of 5 years

·       Ability to coordinate, supervise, manage and train
