Our paid summer internship program is crafted to provide students from all backgrounds with an impactful non-profit work experience, fostering a deep understanding of the sector. Our program is dedicated to equipping students with hands-on experience and sector knowledge needed for their future careers while making meaningful contributions to our organization. Interns at Make-A-Wish® Canada have the opportunity to work in their preferred areas of interest, on significant projects alongside industry leaders.

WHERE YOU COME IN

We are looking for a Development Intern to join our New Brunswick team at Make-A-Wish® Canada. Working with and reporting to the Development Manager, as well as with the Chapter Director for the province, this internship provides an opportunity to work closely with a team of professionals in the nonprofit sector, gaining hands-on experience in fundraising and mission delivery.

This role is based out of Saint John or Fredericton.  This is a full-time summer internship at 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and can be done remotely. The start date for the successful candidate is at latest July 21st 2025, with an end date of August 29th.

WHAT YOU WILL DO 

 

Development                                                                                                        

  • Support our Third-Party events – solicit auction items, post-event follow up.
  • Assist with First-Party support on events over the summer and prepare for Fall events.
  • Assist with donor stewardship.
  • Work on getting and tracking Gift-in-Kind donations.
  • Execute the community club campaign (Rotary, Lion's Club) by sending letters of asks to each club.
  • Support with the HMCS Ride for Wishes.

 

Wishes

  • Prepare wish boxes for delivery to wish kids & their families.
  • Assist with wish presentations as needed.

 

Administration

  • Inventory the supply room.
  • Brand training will be provided.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Enrolled or recently graduated in post-secondary education.
  • Some related experience is preferred.
  • Must be between 18 and 30 years of age (requirement of Canada Summer Jobs funding).
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (requirement of Canada Summer Jobs funding).
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Comfortable in working with other team members and wish parents to gather information, if required.
  • Innovative, creative, resourceful self-starter; you enjoy challenging yourself.
  • Access to reliable transportation for occasional local travel needs, an asset.
  • A clear Criminal Background Check will be required.

YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • Occasional local travel, if able.

 

Physical/Mental Effort

  • Work with multiple demands and changing/overlapping priorities.
