Environmental Coordinator (Engineering)

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a self-motivated and driven Environmental Coordinator to join our Oriented Strand Board (OSB) facility in Englehart, ON. The Environmental Coordinator will perform professional work at multiple levels in support of the Environmental Manager, the Facility, and Divisional/Corporate Environmental Programs. This individual will have responsibilities in coordination with the Environmental Manager for the evaluation, development, implementation, troubleshooting, and management of the facility's environmental compliance programs and systems. This position will assist in ensuring facility compliance with pertinent governmental regulations, such as provincial and federal air regulations, storm water, wastewater, hazardous waste in addition to company policies and procedures such as Georgia Pacific's Environmental Performance Standard.

What You Will Do

  • Assist as a member of the Environmental Team in the administration of Federal (ECCC) and Provincial (ON) environmental program requirements, including but not limited to air, wastewater, storm water, solid and hazardous waste.
  • Assist Environmental Manager and Plant Manager in the development and implementation of the corporate environmental management system (7-Element RMS), as well as integration of the environmental system into the plant's overall OpEx Plan.
  • Provide support to engineering and project teams to ensure environmental requirements are considered during project development and implemented during project execution.
  • Analyze incident and compliance trend data and work with operating departments to mitigate incidents.
  • Participate in incident investigation, mitigation, root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Coordinate activities and prepare/submit reports to outside agencies.
  • Represent facility during agency inspections and act as facility regulatory contact.
  • Identify cost effective solutions for technical and regulatory environmental issues.
  • Work closely with the Facility Environmental Manager and Business Environmental Manager for guidance and direction on environmental issues impacting the facility.
  • Knowledge share with other GP Building Product facilities' environmental teams.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or Engineering.
  • Ability to lawfully travel outside of Canada, particularly the United States of America.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Three (3) or more years of industrial environmental experience.
